New Beauty Products to Buy at Drugstores Right Now
You know the saying “You get what you pay for”? While it’s certainly true for some things (like a Dyson hair dryer), it could not be further from the truth when it comes to beauty products. In fact, our favorite shampoo right now costs less than five dollars, which is why we’ve been doing the bulk of our shopping in the drugstore aisles lately. Here, the 14 new products we currently love.
Dove Shower Foam
The bar (ahem) is set high when it comes to this iconic brand, but thankfully it delivers with this foamy wash. It has all of the skin-softening ingredients (and comforting scents) of the original formula but with a bubbly lather and easy-to-use pump.
Garnier Fructis Frizz Guard Anti-Frizz Dry Spray
This airy mist is a godsend for ladies who are prone to frizz. Spray it onto puffy strands and flyaways to smooth them down instantly—or use it as extra insurance on rainy days. Either way, the lightweight formula won’t weigh your hair down.
Degree Dry Spray Ultra Clear Deodorant
What did we do before spray deodorant? We scrubbed countless streaks out of our shirts is what. Thankfully, we no longer have to worry about that. The geniuses over at Degree upgraded their formula so that it prevents sweat from setting in and yellowing on lighter fabrics. Oh, and there are microscopic capsules of fragrance that burst only when you move so you smell better as the day goes on.
Maybelline Dream Cushion
Listen, we’ve tried our fair share of cushion compacts and while we’ve loved all of them for their ease of use and dewy finish, few have delivered on coverage. This one does—so much so that we’re using our concealer less.
Physician’s Formula Mineral Wear Cushion Corrector + Primer Duos
Pair the aforementioned cushion compact with a colour correcting formula and you’ll never have to sleep again. (Just kidding, but it will hide the fact that you’ve stayed up binge-watching The Crown for the past three nights.) The green-and-yellow combo neutralizes redness and under-eye shadows, while the lavender-and-peach duo helps with dullness and dark spots.
Almay Pen Liner
Confession: We still get nervous around a liquid liner sometimes (and have long given up dreams of perfecting our flick). That is, until this unassuming pen came into our lives. Maybe it’s in our heads or maybe it’s the rounded tip (it’s shaped like a ballpoint pen), but we’ve been swooping on even, precise lines ever since. On second thought, it’s definitely the tip.
Ivory Duo Dual-Sided Body Cleanser
We always considered ourselves to be bar soap people…until this year. (See the foamy wash above.) This triple threat of a sponge is soft on one side, nubby on the other and has a creamy, cleanser-filled center that lasts for up to 30 uses. Plus, unlike a loofah, it’s coated in antimicrobial material so it stays fresh in your shower.
Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Oil
If you were a fan of those roller-ball balms in the 90’s (you know, the ones that smelled heavily of artificial cherry and left your lips coated in grease), you’ll love these lightly tinted (and much less sticky) ones from everyone’s friend Burt. They’re particularly great for when you need a quick touch-up or are running errands and just want a hint of colour on your face.
Neutrogena Light Therapy Acne Treatment Mask
Typically at-home devices come at a hefty price, but the folks at Neutrogena made it possible for us all to get in on that laser action. This mask uses blue and red light to reduce inflammation and kill acne-causing bacteria. And though you’ll look like a Storm Trooper when you wear it, it’s worth it not to deal with those under-the-surface (aka stubborn-as-hell) zits anymore.
Pantene Pro-V Daily Moisture Renewal Shampoo
Fifteen years of research went into this familiar formula…so how, apart from the fancy new label, is it different? Pantene has added tiny little lipids and antioxidants that are able to penetrate the shaft of each strand so any moisture that’s typically lost during the shampooing process is replenished immediately. In a nutshell, it leaves your hair feeling like spun silk.
Sally Hansen Colour Therapy
Uber-trendy nail artist Madeline Poole lent her creative prowess and cool-girl aesthetic to this 38-shade line of colours. Even better than the insanely wearable shades (and user-friendly brush), perhaps, is the argan oil-infused formula that keeps your tips hydrated throughout its wear. (Hence, the name.)
